Alan and the staff are very open and friendly. I played my favorite music (LOUD) :) and visited several times before the decision to purchase my NAD Amp/CD player and Thiel speakers. I absolutely love the set up. I have been buried and immersed in music and movies since the purchase. The pleasure of superb music and sound has enhanced my life; so FINALLY, I am writing a much deserved review of my buying experience. ....Alan and his staff have demonstrated to my wife and me that they are more concerned with our long-term enjoyment of a purchase rather than a quick sale. Michael Rich and the team at Audio Alternative provided advice, the components and the installation services for my recent home theatre purchase. Michael was able to integrate my existing Vandersteen speakers. I have a system similar to the one in the "Vandersteen Theater Room" at the store. The team provided practical advice; I was reluctant to go with the larger screen size they suggested, but a friend's comment of "I have TV envy" settled it. I've recommended Audio Alternative to several friends and will continue to do so.

We had an "okay" audio system in our previous house, but when my wife and I built our new house we wanted to upgrade, but still stay within our budget. I spoke with Michael Rich, and he demonstrated the Control 4 system to me, which he recommended based on my specific needs (primarily the ability to store and play mp3 files); he also explained how the Control 4 system can be expanded to control all sorts of other elements in our home (thermostat, lights, etc.). He and his team put together a system that is absolutely perfect for us, and everyone who comes over can't believe how versatile and easy-to-use the system is. Michael and his team did an incredible job of installing and programming the system exactly the way we wanted it. Now, as I see Control 4 touted on Oprah and in magazines, I feel like Michael put me way ahead of the curve.

I had the good fortune to visit Alan and Shawnn soon after my arrival in Atlanta in 2001, beginning my search for a new system so that I could retire the 20-year old components to the office. I wanted to be able to do both audio and video through the same system for space reasons. Although I knew better, having acquired my components all those years ago from an independent audiophile dealer, I had visited the big names and the big box stores prior to reaching Audio Alternative. It was for the best, as it took very little time for Alans staff to show me and let me hear -- the difference between the product lines they had so carefully and expertly chosen and the mass market products that cost no less -- elsewhere. That was the beginning of a true friendship with these wonderful people, who while they cater as well to those who can afford the fabulous, search constantly to find the best of the best for the rest of us. As you can see from the photos, the heart of my relatively simple system is the wonderful Rega P3 with a recently added Dynavector 20XL cartridge and the unseen but equally amazing P-75 phono stage. Without Alan I doubt if I would ever have found this level of joy again in music. Not only is the video and digital audio great, the analog audio is simply fantastic.

My family and I continue to enjoy our home theater - from movies, to sports, to video games. It is hard to believe that it has been over two years since we had it built. Mike and Scott did a terrific job in helping us plan the theater in such a small space. The hidden gear closet worked out wonderfully. Most importantly, of course, the picture and sound are terrific. I appreciate the emphasis that you all placed on making sure the system sounded as good as the cinewide picture looked. Thanks for your continued service.

If you’ve tried to audition the 2-channel gear you’re interested in, you know how frustrating it can be. If you even find a dealer who handles the brand, there’s a pretty good chance he won’t be able to demonstrate the gear when you get there. Most of us just don’t have that much time or patience. After my initial purchase from Alan, a long dreamed about VPI turntable, I was so happy with the improvement to my system that I decided to upgrade the rest of it. As Alan and Mike can tell you, this didn’t happen over night. I visited the store many times, occasionally bought more vinyl, many times trying selections they recommended. They were always patient and understanding while I agonized over my decisions. I finally came to understand that they have spent lots of time and effort finding out what does and doesn’t make your system better. I’m sure most any high-end manufacturer would be anxious to have Audio Alternative as a retailer, but I don’t get the feeling they sell stuff they don’t believe in. They’re looking for a long-term relationship and so was I. I’ve been listening to MUSIC, not my gear, for about 7 months now and it’s quite an improvement. I haven’t bought much vinyl or CDs lately because I’m rediscovering my collection. Many of the recordings I thought were unlistenable in the past can now be enjoyed. You guys are the best! Thanks

Alan, just wanted to email you and say thanks for all the help with the P3.
The unit sounds awesome, I now know the difference between cds and lps. The sound is much more enjoyable, I listen to records everyday now. I really enjoy the Johny Adams 180 gram vinyl, it sounds so good. Thanks again for all your help, you are truly a pleasure to do business with, and by the way your store is very impressive you have done a great job with the set up.
Look forward to seeing you again someday hopefully for an upgrade in something. I think I will be needing the record cleaner and then hopefully the Dynavector preamp. Take care.
